Material is 1045 TG & P (Turned, Ground and Polished). 1045 Turned, Ground and Polished Precision Shafting represents the highest degree of over-all accuracy, concentricity, straightness, and surface perfection attainable in commercial practice. Turned, Ground and polished Precision Shafting is designed to fit standard bearings for vibration free operation at high speeds. It is a medium carbon steel which offers better mechanical properties than low carbon steels. Response to heat treatment is excellent.
